About Ely Insights

Background

The last couple of years has seen a dramatic change in terms of the way that data and metrics becoming more prevalent in the wider world.

There is almost 50 times the amount of data being generated now as at the start of the decade, and a much higher multiple of the number of information sources. Within these data are huge opportunities and challenges. To use this to their advantage though, organisations need to use this data effectively, and must have it in an accessible way. This is the area where Ely Insights is looking to focus on. The goal is to make analysing data fast and easy, as well as being visually appealing. The final output should be easy to use and to understand.

Ely Insights primarily uses Tableau software to deliver visually appealing dashboards and visualisations to clients.

Tableau’s motto is to help people see and understand their data. This motto is something which Ely Insights also aims to provide.

Tableau is a product which is constantly evolving and improving. Even in the 2 year period since Ely Insights has been a Tableau user, there has been a significant improvement in what the program is capable of. It is this innovation, as well as the community the program has built, which gives great confidence is using it as the tool of choice for Ely Insights.

Acumen & Trust

In Acumen & Trust I worked as a portfolio construction analyst, as well as managing a large discretionary managed fund. Additionally I developed systems for use by financial advisors to assist in giving sound financial advice to clients.

Middle Office/Admin Roles

In the years between graduating from my Masters and moving to a more technical role in 2012 I worked as a function between the front office trading environment and the back-office function.

about me

Primarily with a background in investments & finance, I have developed a strong understanding of analysing businesses and business models. Additionally I have built up a working technical knowledge of analysing large datasets, as well as using them with the latest business intelligence tools to deliver something tangible to clients.

It is the combination of financial markets and technical skills, which I believe stands as a strong offering to clients. Finally I like to use a common sense approach to working on projects, and try to keep solutions understandable and relatable to those less tech savvy.
